Nearly 30 percent of abaya, night-wear and wedding dress stores may close or be sold at prices ranging between SR 500,000 and SR 1 million because of difficulties over employing women staff, local media reported, quoting sources in Jeddah.

A number of traders plan to sell more than 570 stores operating in the market due to problems related to the application of the feminization decision, said head of the garments and ready-made clothes committee at the Jeddah Chamber of Commerce and Industry (JCCI) Mohammed Al-Shihri.

Al-Shihri said traders are complaining that the law was implemented too quickly, and about a lack of support and numerous delays in the payment of salary subsidies promised by the Ministry of Labor and the Human Resources Development Fund (HRDF), he added.

The companies are unable to pay salaries because most of them are small and medium enterprises, he said.Foral gown He said owners have welcomed the new law, but need the promised financial support. There have been delays of up to six months in some cases, he added.

The JCCI's human resources committee will submit a package of proposals to the Ministry of Labor on how to remove barriers impeding the feminization plan in these areas, he said.

The proposals include the creation of a binding employment contract where employees will work for a period of not less than one year at fixed working hours until 9 p.m., but extended to 11 p.m. during holidays. The proposals also include finding a suitable transport system, prompt delivery of financial support for employees, and a clear mechanism outlining the HRDF’s support to the sector.

The committee has also called for tighter controls on shops and stalls during evening hours that are reportedly breaking the law by selling women's underwear at the expense of licensed Saudi dealers, he said.

Labor Undersecretary for Development and Head of Women Work Localization Program Dr.chiffon bridesmaid dress Fahad Al-Tikhaifi said support for a Saudi female employee starts from the first month she works, and once the ministry receives notification of her salary requirements.

He said the delays have been caused by businesses failing to provide the ministry with women employees' salary requirements, and not completing other legal formalities.

I've got to say that I don't really love it. The Killing Of The Imam is a slim book, and more than half is devoted to a reconstruction of Haron's time in detention. While this is chilling and important reading, the book's introductory chapters play an equally useful function in serving to humanise the imam. We learn, for instance, that he loved James Bond and had an entirely questionable dress sense as a youngster, favouring “lurid bow-ties and the widest possible flared trousers”. In fact, a big part of the controversy comes from the fact that, according to the Global Times, the Shanghai store is the only Vera Wang shop in the world to impose a trying on fee. 

“I can't imagine why I wouldn't spend that money on an airfare to Hong Kong, where the Vera salon doesn't charge for fittings – and the prices are overall much cheaper than on the Mainland,” wrote a commenter on the Wedding Bee forums.

I seriously never thought I'd say this: I miss being engaged. 

I don't miss wedding planning, and I don't miss being talked to as if, as a human with a ring and a vagina, I had no interests aside from talking about the details of “my” (so rarely, “our”) big day. What I miss is the day-to-day experience of preparing to love someone publicly. 

Patrick and I didn't have a particularly long engagement — or courtship, for that matter, since we got married before we'd known each other for two years. But during our eight-month engagement, I spent so much of my time being excited, just plain excited as all fucking get-out, to be in love. 

And when Patrick and I worked on wedding stuff together, on something as banal as trying to find the most affordable yet stylish tablecloths, or something as exciting as building a mapped-out guide to Dallas for incoming guests, it didn't feel like just working on wedding stuff.wedding dress 100%silk It felt like we were working on us, and on what our wedding said about us, and also on the future we both wanted so badly together,off shoulder dress and to create for ourselves. 

It's nice to spend months at a time being reminded that you're in love, to be focused both on the present and the future and the past, enveloped in the sustenance and growth of a relationship. 

Marriage is wonderful, but it is not like that. At least, not for me. I often think about how much I love Patrick, and I certainly love him more today than ever, but that sense of immediate future-building that I felt during our engagement is dulled.

I think the idea that a renewable marriage contract is somehow depressing or unromantic is a fundamentally cynical one. I don't see a renewable contract model as being predicated on the idea that people will want out; I see a renewable contract model as being predicated on people wanting to stay in, and wanting to honor that. 

This romantic idea we have about forever love and the two dedicated (and heterosexual) people who should be so committed to each other that the only thing that stands between them and mutual separation is death? Pretty new. 

Marriage contracts don't fly in the face of everything we've ever believed about marriage. In fact, marriage contracts are right in line with what many societies originally believed about marriage, which is that it was a social, political or business arrangement — and a deeply patriarchal one at that, with women being passed around not “like” chattel but as chattel. Romantic love was reserved almost exclusively for the relationship between a man and his unmarried mistress (or mister, in some cases). Many times, there existed no social or cultural space in which it was appropriate for a wife to experience romantic love.
